Backblaze – Easiest Cloud Backup for PC & Mac, Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth
Today when we all have 100s & even 1000s of GB’s of data stored across our computers, backing up your files is increasingly something we all care about. All your photos, videos, music, files & work are all stored on your computer. As the cost of storage comes down and the amount goes up so does the amount we store. Having all your data in one place is risky.
Loss of Valuable Data
Hardware failure, viruses, children accidentally overwriting or deleting things, are some of the typical ways we run into data loss, others which hopefully will never happen to you include theft, fires and floods. Having a good backup plan in case of the worst will give you peace of mind, it’s better to plan ahead than to look back and regret.
Storing your own backups can be risky
There are lots of backup programs you can install to backup your files but they backup to your computer or external drives, Windows & MacOS both have built-in tools to automatically do this which is great but it doesn’t safeguard against some of the potential scenarios mentioned. This is where Cloud Backup comes to the rescue.
Backblaze PC & Mac Cloud Backup
Backblaze has been providing customers with unlimited cloud backup for over 10 years for Windows and Mac computers and at only $5 per month (or $50 per year) it is cheaper than other leaders out there like Carbonite.
There are no limits on the size of your files regardless of how many photos, videos & music files, archives (iso’s, zip, rar, 7z) you need to back up. No restrictions on files, or gigabytes, or number of restores you are allowed to do.
Backblaze provides completely Unlimited Storage and Unlimited Bandwidth, enabling you to backup as fast as your Internet connection permits. Finding out how much you could potentially backup on a given day is simple thanks to the connection speedtest tool they provide on their site. This is a nice touch that I haven’t see on other services. In the test I did I am able to upload 72GB worth of data per day on my connection which is more than adequate for my needs.
One thing I’d like to point out is that Backblaze is not a syncing service like Dropbox, iCloud, pCloud, Sync, Google Drive etc. It’s a backup service, how they differ is explained here in our Cloud Sync vs Cloud Backup Differences & Suggested Services to use article.
As well as backing up internal drives in your computer Backblaze can also back up any external drives attached making it the ideal solution for backing up your backups. Backblaze backs up everything with the exception of your operating system, application folder, temporary internet files, podcasts in iTunes. Everything else is backed up and automatically whenever new files appear or files are changed so you have nothing to do except bask in the peace of mind knowing all your files are intact if anything should happen.
Installing and getting started is a breeze and after an initial scan to find all your files it starts backing up your files and that’s all you need to do unless you wish to configure settings.
Restoring files is an easy process and you have full control over what files to restore & the date and time you wish to restore them from.
